hippity hop! easter's nearly here!

easter is right around the corner (along with real spring weather, hopefully!), and we've got lots of goodies for filling easter baskets. here are some of our faves:
holztiger bunnies appeal to all ages!
(p.s. a group of rabbits can be called a colony, warren, or nest.)
this coral & tusk bunny doubles as a necklace and a pouch for tiny treasures.

a tiny rabbit necklace, embroidered on felt and strung on pink twine.

this bunny is rocking some espadrilles!

mouse in a matchbox!

this sheep would love to peek out of an easter basket in his new home!

oh, and one last thing, did we mention that we have caramels? oh yes, very, very yummy caramels perfect for easter baskets (or for a "i just finished all my easter basket shopping!" treat).

p.s. we will be closed on easter sunday. happy hunting!

we heart oliver jeffers.

we are huge fans of oliver jeffers' children's books here at o'suz. the stories are endearing, humorous, and often have a little bit of a lesson without being over the top. the illustrations and smatterings of oliver's handwriting throughout the texts are phenomenal -- beautiful watercolors swirl across the pages as the story unfolds. just the other day swiss-miss (one of the founders of tattly, our new temporary tattoo line) posted a link to this awesome new author video from oliver. we love having a little window into his creative process!

lost & found is a perennial favorite at the shop -- boys & penguins
make the best of friends!

penguins in progress.

sadly, we don't have this amazing map in the shop (if only!),
but we love it so much we had to share.

all of oliver's work begins in his sketchbooks, which are teeming with drawings, mini-paintings, collages, and other mementos. we could spend days
poring over these pages!

peg & awl

we've been big fans of peg & awl's work for awhile now, so we are so excited to have walter and margaux's work in the shop! they make everything at their workshop in philadelphia. (you can often see work in progress on instagram @pegandawl.) nearly all of their materials are reclaimed, and what really blows us away is the incredibly handmade nature of their goods. each bag, desk caddy, necklace, and pouch has been thoughtfully crafted with careful labor. we're in love!

we have a small number of these totes in two different sizes and in two colors, truffle and slate. the waxed canvas comes from a 5th-generation philadelphia family business, and the interior fabric lining the pockets has been salvaged from early 20th-century shirting and quilting. the leather used in the straps is also on its second life, having first been utilized in the form of gun slings during world war II.

each of these desk caddies is totally different, both in terms of the natural patterns of the wood and the pattern of wear. the wood has been salvaged from a 19th-century philadelphia building and finished with tung oil.

these tiny book necklaces are incredible! each book is handmade with archival strathmore paper and leather scraps.
