cozy scarves from sophia costas

holy moly, it's been too long, friends! the summer and early fall just got away from us here at the shop. we've been busy getting ready for fall and (dare we mention it?) the holidays. it's cooling off in virginia, and that means it's scarf weather! we're loving these new fuzzy animal scarves from sophia costas. all of her scarves are handmade in nepal in a fair trade work environment - woohoo!

hope you had a lovely weekend! we are gearing up for a big summer rearrange to make way for new fall goodies that will start showing up shortly. we are going to be moving every last thing in the store (probably more than once), so we will be closed for two days this week.

it's always exciting when an artist whose work you've admired starts selling to retailers, and such is the case with emily mcdowell. we are so excited to have her brand of humor and wit in the shop. she says what we want to say, and sometimes it's stuff we didn't even realize we wanted to say until emily put it on a card. these are going fast, peeps, come snag some!

cozy classics

many of our readers know that we have a love of anything needle felted, and we can't get enough of a new series of board books called cozy classics. twin brothers jack & holman wang recreate classic characters in wool and simplify the stories to a collection of single words that still convey the gist of the original. the detail is incredible, and the setting and photography only add to their work. their version of moby dick is a favorite around here, and we're excited that the series is continuing with emma, jane eyre, and oliver twist this fall!
