new candles from paddywax!

we just got a huge shipment of candles & soaps from a new line for us, paddywax. this nashville based company has over 15 collections of soy wax candles, and we love the custom blends they've whipped up! here is a small sampling of what we have in the shop:

mint mojito, anyone?
the classic candles are also available in cucumber grapefruit and limoncello.

we love that paddywax has these tiny 2 oz. travel tins, available in mint mojito, cucumber grapefruit, limoncello, new mown hay, and gardenia. (is it too early to utter the words "stocking stuffer?")
a perfect summer candle for the patio!

the eco line candles come in upcycled wine bottles, and fragrances include mandarin & lavender, rosemary & citrus, pomegranate & currant, thyme & olive leaf, verbena & lemongrass, basil & cucumber, and grapefruit & coriander. pair them up with a matching soap, and your hostess gift is good to go.
the library collection is hands-down one of our favorite groups! smartly packaged with the authors' signatures and memorable quotations, these candles call to mind the comfort of a good book. come find out what edgar allan poe, jane austen, leo tolstoy, and emily dickinson smell like!
brightly colored rustic mason jars hold scents like ocean tide & sea salt, salted grapefruit, vanilla & oakmoss, and gardenia & tuberose.

the happy collection comes in beautiful patterns and a great votive size. also available in orange peel & tamarind, ginger peach, lily & green clover, poppy & coriander, salted grapefruit, and sea salt & the surf.
more tiny travel tins from the apothecary collection! fresh garden blends with rosemary, basil, verbena, and eucalyptus.

summertime

summer reminds me of how much i love the color yellow.
it also makes me want to spend my days reading poetry.

The Summer Day

by

Mary Oliver

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

and listening to the beach boys.
